Here's my story:

After visiting my home town in July 2006 and seeing some of my family who had joined Weight Watchers I knew that I, too, had to join. Two of my female cousins had each lost 40 pounds since the previous January and they really looked WONDERFUL! As soon as I returned home again I went online to locate a Weight Watchers meeting and the very first one I found was on July 10th and I was there! As of April 2007 I have lost 35 pounds and I've gone down 4 dress sizes (did you know that every 10 pounds = 1 dress size?) from a size 18 to a size 10! I was in the grocery store after losing my first 25 pounds and I picked up a 25 pound bag of cat litter. I was shocked to realize that I had literally been WEARING that much weight when I first began my journey! That was really an incentive to continue until I reach my ultimate goal.

I won't say that it doesn't take work because it definitely does! Not only do you have to work the program properly, you need to have your mind set that losing the unwanted pounds and regaining a healthy life style is your primary concern. You will need dedication and a whole lot of perserverance to succeed but if you have these and adhere to the program properly, succeed you will! For me, the Weight Watchers program is the only "do-able" program out there and I can live with it easily and happily. I tell folks, "I'm not on a 'diet', I'm on Weight Watchers!" And I really love the new Weight Watchers commercials...not only do I plan to be an "After", I intend to become a "Forever After"! I have now reached my Weight Watchers "Lifetime" status and I'm very proud of this! I would still like to lose 10-15 more pounds in order to comfortably get back to my size 8 again so I will continue working towards that ultimate goal

One recommendation I would make is that if it is at all possible, try to go to a WW meeting that is held at a "dedicated" WW site. In other words, try to go to a meeting that is held in an off-site facility that is run strictly by Weight Watchers staff and not held in a facility such as a Community Center, a church or some other organization not directly connected to Weight Watchers. The reason for this is that in a facility that is actually run by Weight Watchers, the scales are never taken up and stored in a cabinet until the next meeting because they are located in non-dedicated facilities. It can sometimes make a big difference when you step up on the scales if the facility doesn't verify that they calibrate the scales each time they take them out and put them down. Dedicated Weight Watchers facilities calibrate their scales every day. If you're paying good money to be on this great program and you are working hard to achieve your goal, you certainly want to make sure that you are getting your money's worth and that the weight reflected on the scales is your correct weight. I love my WW meeting place, the staff there are always helpful, friendly and dedicated to helping and supporting the members. They're GREAT!

Good luck on YOUR journey!

Today is March 15, 2011 (the ides of March) and I just wanted to tell you that as of March 21, 2011 I will have been a Lifetime Weight Watcher for 3 years! I did much better than my "official" WW goal of 150 pounds...I now weigh 135 pounds! I feel sooo much better than I did when I was so fat! I didn't even know who that fat lady was who used to look at me from my mirror but now she is ME again! YAAAY!! As I said before, it took work but it was oh so well worth the journey! I'm now learning how to work the new WW "Points Plus" program. Instead of my usual 18 daily points, I now get 29 daily points! But then, the point values have changed so I'm really having to watch what and how I eat until I get used to the new program. I've just started my 21st 12-week food journal without which, I could not have been so successful with my weight loss. My best advice is: DO THE JOURNALS. And be honest with yourself 'cause it's only YOU that is hurt if you aren't.
